Kathryn Homer, 86, of Trenton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Kathryn was born on December 18, 1939 in Middletown, Ohio to the late John Waczula and Ann Waczula (Boratko). She retired from Sorg Paper Company in Middletown, Ohio after many years of dedicated service. In her retirement, Kathy enjoyed solving puzzles at the kitchen table, completing crosswords, and watching college football and old murder mysteries with her husband of 26 years, Lawrence “Larry” Homer. On special occasions, Kathy would make her special homemade popcorn, which no one could ever make quite as well as she did. In the warmer months, she tended to her flowers and watched the birds, squirrels, and rabbits play in the yard, always keeping her granddaughters updated on their antics.
Kathy never forgot a thing. When in doubt, you knew you could turn to her, because somehow she always remembered. On long road trips, she brought her paper road maps, which she would break out during especially bad traffic jams just in case the GPS was missing something.
Above all, Kathy will be deeply missed by her family and by all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Homer, whom she married September 2, 2000; her step children, Ricky Homer and Carol Carringer (Homer); and three granddaughters, Sarah Sawin, Jenna Carringer, and Rachel Carringer.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Waczula.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, Ohio. Burial will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
