Maxine Elaine Evans, 84, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Rosemount Pavilion. She was born February 15, 1938, in Portsmouth, to the late Charles Manchester and the late Lucille Easter Jordan.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Joseph Evans, whom she married on August 4, 1956, 2 sons: Timothy Joseph Evans and Kenneth “Choca” Evans, a daughter Susan Elaine Vernier, and 2 brothers: Pete Manchester and Richard Jordan.
Maxine retired from Washington-Nile School District after 25 years as a cook.
Maxine is survived by a daughter, Sherri (Jeff) Sparks, a son Aaron Evans, a brother, Eugene Manchester, a sister Charlene Fyffe, 8 grandchildren: Nick Vernier, Ryan Vernier, Timmy Evans, Jonny Evans,, Audrey Evans, Adrien Evans, Tyler Sparks, and Schylur Evans, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with David Sibole officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
