Michael David Craig, aged 80, of North Moreland, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at OSU Wexner Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 13, 1945, in Portsmouth, he was the beloved son of the late Eirmel Craig and Edna Jewel Earls Craig.
Mike attended the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and enjoyed a distinguished career in corrections. He began his service at the Ohio State Penitentiary before transferring to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, where he retired with the rank of captain. His deep commitment to community and fellowship was reflected in his involvement with the Western Sun Lodge #91 of the F. & A.M., where he was honored as a 32-degree Mason with the Valley of Cincinnati.
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Mike served during the Viet Nam War in Thailand as an air policeman on town patrol and was stationed at Bunker Hill Air Force Base in Peru, Indiana. In recognition of his valor, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with the “V” device.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Arley Dutiel, and his cherished grandson, Evan Michael “Busty” Bradley.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Jackie Romines Craig, whom he married on October 27, 1966; his daughters, Tuesday Holbrook and Julie (Daryld) Blevins; his six grandchildren: Kamryn Holbrook, Lukas Bradley, Lathan Bradley, Kyla Holbrook, Jordyn Nunley, and Talan Blevins; his two step-grandchildren, Allison Blevins and Stormie Blevins; two nieces, Vickie (Tom) Walker and Debbie (Mike) Phillips; and his two cousins, Sharon (Jim) Cooper and Paul (Cheryl) Howell.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at noon on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Pastor Brad Angus officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, accompanied by military honors provided by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on the day of the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church. A Masonic service conducted by Western Sun Lodge No. 91 will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10th, at the funeral home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of remembrance. Mike’s legacy of dedication, faith, and friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
