What started as a chilling 911 call about a potential shootout involving someone’s grandparents exploded into an all-out chaotic brawl on Oak Street — involving fistfights, vehicles used as weapons, and threats to gun down anyone who came near.
Just after 1 a.m., a frantic caller told dispatchers that people were trying to shoot their grandparents, adding that the suspects were threatening to shoot anyone who stepped foot in the area.
Moments later, the caller phoned back: the scene had erupted into a violent melee at the Center Street Church, where cars were reportedly ramming into each other and trying to run over people.
🚔 Officers Flood the Scene
Scioto County deputies rushed to the scene, with Ohio State Patrol also called in for backup. When officers arrived at the church, they immediately requested an ambulance for an injured person.
Valley EMS responded, but due to the severity of the injuries, they called for a medical helicopter. Unfortunately, the air ambulance declined due to low visibility. The victim was transported by ground crew.
👮 One Man in Cuffs
Police detained a male suspect at the scene and later arrested Joseph Blanton for criminal trespass.

He was booked into the Scioto County Jail. All officers cleared the scene by 3 a.m.
