Naked Woman Spotted On Findlay Street

Someone spotted a naked woman on Findlay Street, multiple tweakers disturbed the peace, and the police came to the assistance of an elderly homeowner in need. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

  • At 1:40 am, an employee of the Holiday Inn reported a man in a hoody stole coffee from the lobby. Officers escorted him from the property.
  • A Kent Street resident reported a stolen motorcycle at 9:22 am. Police took information for a report.
  • Kroger reported a man in an orange toboggan left the store with merchandise in his coat at 10:30 am. Police could not locate him.
  • Police took a break-in report from a Summit Street woman at 12:02 pm. She said someone broke her privacy fence and neighbors witnessed someone attempting to break into her home.
  • A Chillicothe Street caller reported a wallet stolen at 1:47 pm. The caller said the crooks had already used their cards for several close to $1000 dollars in purchases at stores like Advance Auto and Walmart.

Disturbing The Peace

  • Police responded to Kendall Avenue just before 4 am for a disturbance report. It turned out a woman was cleaning the house and sweeping the floors. Police suggested she clean at a more normal time when she wouldn’t disturb her neighbors.
  • A woman who has nearly daily contact with police contacted PPD at 10:55 am. She wanted to retrieve property from a Vinton Avenue home and claimed a man sucker-punched her. She left the area on foot.

My Yard Is Not a Toilet

A summit Street resident contacted police at 4:22 am to complain about neighbors using their yard as a bathroom.

Police advised the neighbors to stay out of the yard.

Shots Fired?

At 4:30 am, a Pleasant Avenue caller reported a shot fired from a pickup truck. Police were unable to locate anything suspicious.

Police responded to a report of a fight with shots fired on Wayne Avenue at 11:55 am. Witnesses said they didn’t see a fight or hear gunshots. Police saw no evidence of a disturbance.

Suspicious Activity

  • A Grandview Avenue caller reported someone going through her trash in the alley at 6:24 am. The person left before the police arrived.
  • Police responded to Alexandria House at 2:13 pm for a report of a naked woman in the breezeway.
  • Officers responded to a report of a suspicious guy hanging around a condemned house on High Street at 2:44 pm. Police discovered he had warrants from PPD and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. They took him into custody.

Under the Influence

  • At 12:15 pm, police responded to a report of a drunk man standing between 2 houses of 6th Street yelling and cussing at people in the neighborhood. Police located the man and put him in the care of a sober female.
  • Thirty minutes later, a Kroger employee reported a man ‘tweaking out’ and yelling and screaming as he went down the aisles of the store. Officers took him into custody and left him with family members.
  • A Mabert Road caller reported a woman unresponsive after an overdose at 2:46 pm. Police assisted the fire department.
  • Officers responded to a report of a barefoot woman “tweaking out” and dancing in the middle of 2nd Street at 4:43 pm. Police said the woman resisted arrest. They took her into custody and transported her to the hospital for an emergency psychiatric admission.
  • At 9:38 pm, police answered a call about a man passed out in a lot at Kinneys Lane and the Scioto Trail. Officers discovered he had a warrant with NBPD. Police transported him to New Boston for booking.

Helping Hand

Officers checked out a report of a camper in disrepair on Madison and ended up attempting to help an elderly woman.

They spoke to her about the condition of her home as well and determined she needed some help. Police contacted the Area Office on Aging and Adult Protective Services.

The officer also said they would attempt to help the woman apply for a CHIP Grant.

Sexual Assault

A woman contacted police to report a rape that happened in February of last year. Police took information for a report.
