Just after midnight, Holiday Inn employees reported a confused elderly woman in the lobby. They said she kept coming in and saying she had a room. However, there was no record of her staying there.
Officers called for an ambulance, but EMTS said they didn’t believe the woman needed to go to the hospital.
She told officers she lived at Horizon House and was waiting for a ride for a family gathering in Pike County. She said she would return to the apartment complex.
The next day, the manager of Horizon House contacted PPD to do a welfare check on a resident who had recurring psychotic episodes. The manager said she wasn’t answering her door.
Officers found the woman sleeping in the basement.
