A shiny new fence at a local career center didn’t last long after deputies say Bryce McGinnis decided to take a shortcut — through it.
💥 Fence vs. Truck: Truck Wins, Briefly
Staff arriving for work at the Collins Career Center were greeted by the sight of tire tracks carved through the grass and a mangled section of freshly installed fencing. Scattered nearby were bits and pieces from a vehicle — including what looked like a Chevy marker light.
Deputies quickly followed the bread crumbs, or in this case, the muddy tire tracks, leading straight down County Road 618. A few minutes later, they spotted a Chevy S-10 that seemed to fit the description a little too well. It was missing the same marker light and still had chunks of fence lodged in the grill.
😬 “It Wasn’t Me… Okay, It Was”
When questioned, McGinnis at first denied everything. But deputies say his story crashed faster than his truck did. He eventually admitted he’d lost control, plowed through the fence, panicked, and drove home — taking a souvenir from the scene with him. Deputies say he even pulled a piece of the fence out of his own truck and kept it inside his house.
🚔 Trouble on Top of Trouble
Things only got worse from there. Deputies discovered McGinnis was driving under an OVI suspension and didn’t have valid insurance. His policy, according to records, was canceled back in September. He was issued citations for Driving Under OVI Suspension and Failure to Control.
The career center’s fence repair bill came in at a tidy $2,000 — not counting the embarrassment.
