It was a loud and chaotic night in the Wayne Hills area as Portsmouth police responded to multiple disturbance calls just hours apart.
The first call came from a Thomas Avenue apartment after a caller reported two men and a woman were kicking on a resident’s door and screaming while the apartment owner was away.
Then things escalated.
The caller told dispatch the group had moved to the back of the apartment and appeared to be climbing through a window.
When officers arrived, they spotted a man walking nearby on Thomas Avenue and began investigating.
Police spoke with a woman at the scene who said she had been staying at the apartment and insisted they were not trying to break in through the window.
Officers noted they were familiar with her from prior calls and could confirm she had previously been at the apartment with permission from tenants.
Meanwhile, the original callers reportedly refused to open the door or speak further with officers despite repeated attempts.
The man and woman eventually left the area.
🌅 HOURS LATER, MORE TROUBLE
By 7 a.m., police were back in Wayne Hills again—this time on Wayne Avenue.
Dispatchers received reports of a woman screaming and breaking apartment windows while a man and children were believed to still be inside.
Another caller reported seeing a man and woman fighting while moving around the apartment building.
Officers quickly caught up with the man on Thomas Avenue and took him into custody.
No additional charges or details about injuries were immediately listed in the report.
