A man already in big trouble for failing to register as a sex offender landed behind bars at the Scioto County Jail after witnesses implicated him in a shooting near a homeless camp earlier in the week.
Officers searched the Gallia Street area for him at the time, but could not locate him. However, they found their man, Aaron Blanton, just before 1 p.m. near the Subway on Gallia.
Blanton was serving time at the Lebanon Correctional Institution for failing to register as a sex offender before he was released on parole in October of last year.
Officers booked him for parole violation and having a weapon under a disability.
This was his 22nd trip to the Scioto County Jail. His previous charges include multiple counts of parole violation, probation violation, failure to register as a sex offender, grand theft, domestic violence, fugitive from justice, grand theft, drug possession, disorderly conduct, contempt, failure to appear, child endangering, resisting arrest, criminal damaging, violating a protection order, felonious assault, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, petty theft, receiving stolen property, and complicity to breaking and entering.
