Police responded to calls about a porch pooper and came to the aid of several people who just couldn’t get up. We hit the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s crime log.

Porch Pooping and Other Problems

Just before 3 am, a woman who has nearly daily contact with police reported that a black pickup truck was following her and harassing her. Officers assisted her and advised her to stay out of the road.

At 3:47 am, a caller reported the same woman lying in the middle of the road. When officers arrived back at the scene, they advised her to gather up her things and head inside for the night due to the cold.

At 2pm, a resident of the Woodbine Apartments complained that the same woman had taken a poop on her porch and left her luggage behind when she left.

Police advised the woman to call back if she returned.

Disturbing Behavior

At 3:10 am, officers responded to 14th Street for a report of a woman screaming in an apartment. She said her ex-boyfriend was at the apartment and took her phone.

She did not wish to press charges.

Lying To Police

Just Before 6 am, a caller falsely reported a burglary in her home. She claimed there was an unknown man there.

However, when police investigated they discovered she’d invited the guy over and now just wanted him to leave. He left without issues.

Under The Influence

A Robinson Avenue caller complained that someone was cooking dope at 5:55 am. Police investigated but didn’t see any signs of drug activity or other problems.

Police responded to the Speedway for a report of a man passed out in a gray car at pump 14 just before midnight.

It turned out the man had warrants. Officers arrested him and arranged for the vehicle to be towed.

Towed Away

Just after 8 am, officers arranged for a vehicle with fake tags to be towed away from 6th Street.

Here To Help

  • Officers checked in on a resident of Alexandria House who hadn’t been heard from in a week. Police found her on the floor and assisted medics.
  • A woman contacted dispatch at 10:22 am to report she fell the night before and spent the night inside her car. She was having difficulty breathing and needed help.
  • A worried aunt asked officers to check on her niece at 2 pm. She said the niece had called 20 times and said some disturbing things. Officers arranged for her to be transported to SOMC for evaluation.
  • The country transferred a call regarding someone in an alley off Center Street to police at 6:30 pm. Officers arranged transport to SOMC for the victim.

Stay Out

The security team at Kroger contacted the police at 9:38 am. They needed assistance to bar a man inside the store.

Police said the man left without incident

Domestic Situation

A 2nd Street caller told police her boyfriend had beaten her. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered she’d been drinking heavily. They think she may have fallen on her own.

At first, she claimed her boyfriend shoved her, then she told police that he did not assault her. The two made up while the police were there.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

Officers responded to a report of a break-in at a Madison Street Shed at 10:43 pm. The resident identified the suspect and officers took information for a report.
