Vultures provide an alert to cops about a corpse, cows were on the loose in Sciotoville, and a mom reported her son missing. We have the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Too Noisy At Night?
- Officers responded to a Kendall Avenue apartment that’s been the target of several noise complaints in the past few days at 12:37 am. A caller reported the neighbors slamming stuff against walls. Police didn’t hear anything but advised them of the complaint.
- At 1:56 am, a caller reported loud music from the same apartment. Police said the front door was open but they did not find the music loud. Officers advised the resident of the complaint.
- Police answered a call to Poplar Street about a man outside yelling at 2:33 am. He told police his ex was bringing people to his home in an effort to make him unhappy. Police told him to go inside and quiet down.
Under The Influence
- Police answered a call of a possible overdose at the BP on Gallia Street at 2:23 am. The man refused medical treatment. Officers dropped him off in the care of his wife.
- Police responded to a report of a running vehicle stopped at the intersection of 7th and Court at 3 am. They took one person into custody and impounded the vehicle.
- Six units responded to a report of an overdose at the Royal Inn. The caller said the woman was not breathing. An officer administered Narcan. The woman refused medical treatment.
- At 3:21 pm, a caller reported that people were attempting to get an overdosed man out of a vehicle on 8th Street. Another caller told police they had administered Narcan to the victim and he was up and walking. The victim left when police arrived.
- A 17th Street caller reported a strange, possibly high woman on his front porch at 8:14 pm. Police could not locate her.
- Officers responded to Speedway for a report of an apparently high woman falling asleep standing up at 9:21 pm. The woman left before the police arrived.
Lending A Hand
Officers assisted the US Marshalls with calls to a McConnell Avenue address and at the Super 8.
Hey! That’s My Stuff
At 9:14 am, a 15th Street caller reported a stolen trailer. Police took information for a report.
Parking Crackdown
- At 10:18 am, PPD continued the parking crackdown and marked a dump truck, Dodge van, and a Dodge Charger on Charles Street for parking violations.
- Half an hour later, they arranged for the tow of a camper parked on the sidewalk on Charles Street.
- Police towed a Mound Street vehicle for blocking the alley at 6:09 pm. The owner was not home and no one had ownership paperwork for the vehicle.
Who Let The Cows Out?
Police responded to a report of cows loose at East Portsmouth Elementary at 11:01 am. Officers were unable to locate the suspect cows.
Vultures Alert Cops to Corpse
A caller reported vultures perched on top of a home at Stedman and Harding. The caller feared something was dead inside the house.
Police said no one was home but they didn’t smell anything odd. The vultures left and circled SR 335.
Later, however, a dead raccoon was discovered at the address. An officer disposed of the body.
Suspicious Activity
- Just before 1 pm, police responded to a report of a suspicious man loitering near the ATM at the Magic Tunnel Car Wash.
- The Taco Bell on Gallia barred a man known for panhandling from their property. Police advised him to stay away.
Hey, That’s My Stimulus Money!
The father of a prison inmate complained to police that his son’s girlfriend stole the inmate’s stimulus check. Police took information for a report.
Man With A Gun
A Harding Avenue caller reported an aggressive man pulled a gun on him at 3:20 pm. Police took information for a report.
Missing Person
A worried mom contacted the police at 7:43 pm to report a missing son. She said he told her that “Dayton boys are after him.”
She said he normally shows up every month when his money comes but she had not seen or heard from him this month.
DOA
At 9:49 pm, a caller reported a woman, cold to the touch and not breathing at a 4th Street residence.
Five units responded to the scene. Police took information for a report.
