Stupid Guy Lucky To Be Alive After 911 Joke

A seriously stupid guy is lucky to be alive after a prank call to 911 brought multiple police units to a Wayne Avenue Apartment. Plus, some Linden Avenue residents learned just how hard it is to make unwanted guests leave. We break down the highlights from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Briefing.

Missing Son

A worried parent called PPD just before 3 am to report their son missing. The son was last seen on Sunday.

Officers met with the parent at Hudson House about an hour later to take the information.

Unwanted Guests

A Linden Avenue resident learned the hard way that it’s not a good idea to let people stay too long at your house.

Just before 5 am a man and his father called the police about some people who had overstayed their welcome at the home. One of them was the man’s brother.

Police said it looked as if they’d let the people stay long enough to establish residency. When that happens, you must initiate eviction proceedings. In this case, since the property is a rental, the landlord would need to start the process.

Officers advised them not to let anyone else stay too long in their home.

Hey, That’s My Stuff

  • Thieves struck the U-Haul on Walnut once again. This time a tow dolly was stolen. Officers took information for a report just before noon.
  • A citizen stopped by the police station to report the theft of a gun just before 3 pm. Police took information for a report.
  • Police answered a call to Richard Noggins at 9:48 pm for a report of a busted truck window. The owner’s phone was stolen from the vehicle.

Dogs On The Loose

After a Wilson Avenue man fell and injured his hip around 12:30 pm,  animal control answered a call to the scene to get dogs running loose inside the residence under control.

A Helpful Push

Police officers came to the aid of an elderly lady who ran out of Gas on Coles Blvd near the Scioto Trail. They helped push her to a gas station just after 2 pm.

Teen Being Stalked

A mom came into the police station at 2:06 pm to report a potentially dangerous situation with her 17-year-old daughter.

She told police a stalker was following the girl. Officers took information for a report.

Drugs and Prostitutes

Just after 2 pm, a caller told police a whole bunch of crime was going down at a Kendall Avenue apartment.

The caller said drug dealers from Cleveland and Dayton were selling drugs out of the place. Additionally, the caller said there were prostitutes going in and out of the place and that the dealers were armed.

The apartment resident gave officers permission to search the home. They didn’t see anything to indicate illegal activity.

Under The Influence

Police answered a call to the Super Quik at 3:11 pm for a report of a man and a woman passed out in a vehicle. There were already warrants for both parties.

The woman had a warrant from Boyd County and the man with NBPD and Richland County. The jail refused to take the man. Police took the man to New Boston and the woman to the County Jail.

Hostage Situation?

At 3:48 pm, a caller reported an apparent hostage situation on Wayne Avenue. They said they heard a woman scream, “Please don’t shoot my husband!”

Five units responded to the scene. The door of the apartment was locked and police didn’t hear anything inside.

There were no visible signs of trouble and police were unable to contact the original caller. Without signs of trouble, they chose not to force entry into the apartment.

No Place To Park

Four cars set up shop in the parking lot of Aldi on Gallia. People were selling items from open trunks.

However, Adli customers complained they took up parking spaces. Police advised them to move.

Stupid Guy Lucky To Be Alive

A seriously stupid stunt by a man at a Wayne Avenue apartment wasted the time of three police units. just after 8:30 pm.

Just after 8:30 pm, a woman called 911 and told them her boyfriend texted her someone was inside the house and she should call 911.  She was outside the home in her car.

Police advised her not to go inside alone and three units arrived on the scene.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered he was playing a joke on the woman. Cops found him hiding in a closet.

As one officer put it, the man was “lucky to be alive.”

Meanwhile at Speedway

Just before midnight, officers answered a call to Speedway on Gallia from a man who thought people were ought to get him.

He said people from Kentucky had followed him. He also admitted he hadn’t taken his medication for a few days.

The man had warrants from Pike County but Pike County didn’t have any officers available to come to pick him up. They told Portsmouth Police to tell the guy to show up in court the next morning.
