Rodney Joe Osborne, 43, of Sciotodale, died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in Mount Carmel Grove City, the result of a tragic accident. Born on March 13, 1981, in Portsmouth, he was a 13-year correction officer at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
Lt. “Ozzy” was a member of the Honor Guard and the ODRC STAR (Special Tactics and Response) statewide and was just last week named Employee of the Year at S.O.C.F.
Preceding him in death was his father, Ron Woodruff, stepfather, Paul Conn, and a niece, Marlana Meeks.
Surviving Lt. Osborne are his wife, Bobbie Crist Osborne, two sons, Jozef Osborne, at home and Chasen (Bailee Fannin) Burk of Sciotoville, a daughter, Lillian Osborne at home; his mother, Judy (Wilson) Frazier of Coal Grove; two brothers, Michael Conn of Ashland, KY and Ronnie (Becky) Woodruff of Portsmouth; five sisters, Lory (Butch) Scarberry, Lisa (Donnie) Patrick and Carlotta (Zach) Conn, all of Ashland; Dianna Conn and Candace Mitchell of Portsmouth; a very special grandson, Asher Burk; several aunt and uncles; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A service will be held on Monday, April 15th, at Noon at Cornerstone Nazarene, 12138 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH 45694, with Reverend Aaron Satterfield officiating. The interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
Special recognition will be given by the S.O.C.F. Honor Guard.
The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME, 422 Harding Avenue, Sciotoville, OH 45662, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
