Portsmouth Police headed to the Party Time Bar on 4th Street just after 1 am when multiple callers reported a man in a black hoodie waving a gun and threatening to shoot people.
When police arrived on the scene, they spotted a man in a black hoodie getting into a white SUV. They advised him to exit the vehicle, but noticed he reached toward the floorboard.
Officers detained several people while they investigated. All involved said they did not wave the gun and nothing happened inside the bar but a verbal argument.
Police spotted a gun lying on the floorboard of the car. Everyone involved insisted the weapon did not belong to them. Police impounded the weapon. They noted the gun was so scratched up that it was difficult to read the serial number.
