Deputies responded to multiple reports of shoplifters around the area. At 8:20 am, the Dollar General on US 23 reported a woman in a black coat stealing items. The woman refused to identify herself to police. The store agreed to let her go if she returned the items. Officers advised her not to return to the store.
At 5:43 p.m., deputies headed to Lucasville after a woman took a basket full of items from Gahm’s Pharmacy and took off toward the Lucasville Bottoms.
By the time officers called back at 7:30 pm, the store reported that they’d caught up with the woman and retrieved their items. A deputy attempted to locate the woman at a Center Street address.
When deputies arrived, people at the residence said the woman had left and was now in a nearby field. Officers searched the area but could not find her. The investigation remains open.
