Suspicious Activity on Campbell Avenue
At 1 am, a caller contacted PPD to report that a man riding a bicycle was shining a flashlight inside people’s houses.
Officers stopped a man and woman and advised them of the complaint before letting them go.
A few minutes later, an 8th Street caller reported someone inside a vacant house in the 2100 block. Officers checked the scene. There was no answer at the door, and they didn’t see or hear anything inside.
At 4 am, a caller reported that a man on a bicycle had swiped a plastic table from the Scioto Ribber. Police discovered the table at the corner of Green Street and Roosevelt Court. They didn’t see the man on the bike.
Passed Out on 2nd Street
Just before 6 pm, a caller reported a blue truck parked in the middle of 2nd Street with a man passed out inside.
Officers took a man into custody and arranged for his vehicle to be towed.
Police arrested the man for driving under the influence.
Just before midnight, a caller reported a different man sitting in a blue truck at 8th and Chillicothe. The caller said the man’s turn signal was on, and he was screaming.
Officers said the man was upset and depressed, but he refused an ambulance to the hospital. Two friends took him into their care and said they would look after him.
Linden Avenue Rental Scam
A Chillicothe resident reported a rental scam that used a Portsmouth home as bait.
The woman offered up a home in the 1400 block of Linden for rent, but refused to meet her at the home and just wanted money sent straight to his account.
Officers told the woman that false rental scams like this are common and she should cease all contact with the person.
