Portsmouth Police responded to multiple reports of runaway kids.
The first child’s family reported her missing at 8:12 pm. The girl’s family said she got into an altercation with her grandmother and younger sister and ran away.
Two units searched the area and located the girl in Mound Park around 10 pm. They contacted her mother, who came to the park. Police released the child into the custody of her mother.
Right around the same time, another parent reported a child who left home without permission. While the officer was taking the report, the child called their mother and said she was on her way home.
The next day around 1 pm, officers dealt with another report of a missing girl, this time a 13-year-old who was visiting her sister from out of town. The older sister said the girl is in foster care and had been staying with her for four days. The child was not from the area and didn’t know anyone in the area. She hadn’t heard from her in several hours.
Officers suggest she wait until 8 pm and notify them if the girl did not return home.
