It was a bruising evening in Scioto County as officers responded to two separate violent altercations just hours apart, both ending with ambulances on standby and ongoing investigations.
🔪 Knife Drama in Swauger Valley
Just after 6:15 p.m., a caller from Swauger Valley Road contacted 911 with a terrifying report: a man had allegedly pulled a knife and assaulted both the caller and his grandmother inside their home.
The caller told dispatchers the situation was so serious his grandmother needed medical attention and that the suspect — a relative — had retreated to a bedroom after tossing the knife.
🚑 Medics staged nearby while deputies secured the scene. But once inside, officers said that while both parties admitted to a physical altercation, neither had visible injuries, and no one wanted to press charges. No knife was recovered, and the scene ultimately de-escalated.
👊 Bloody Fight in West Portsmouth Parking Lot
Meanwhile, on the other side of the county, deputies were called to West Portsmouth for a bloody brawl in a parking lot. A woman claimed she was attacked by another woman, suffering a mouth injury in the scuffle.
Paramedics were called to treat the victim, but by the time deputies arrived, the alleged assailant had vanished. Officers searched the area but came up empty-handed.
👮 What To Do If You’re Involved in a Dispute:
- Call 911 immediately if things escalate or someone is injured.
- Remain on scene and provide full details to responding officers.
- If you’re assaulted and don’t feel safe pressing charges on the spot, file a report later — documentation can make a difference.
- Seek medical care even if injuries seem minor. And save evidence, including clothing or video, if available.
Both incidents are reminders that tempers can flare fast — but accountability fades just as quickly when no one steps up to press charges. If you see something, say something — and follow through.
