Wanted Man Takes Off From Hospital
A wanted man took off from the hospital after officers arranged medical treatment on Friday. It started when police picked up a man with an open warrant at the Royal Inn just before 11 am.
The man told offices he had MRSA and “holes in his legs.” Portsmouth Fire Department medics transported the man to the hospital. No officers were available to stay with the man at the hospital.
Just 30 minutes later, the same officer spotted the man walking around 17th and Kendall. The man told the police he told the SOMC staff that he didn’t want treatment, and they told him he could leave. Then he walked back to 17th and Kendall in thirty minutes.
The officer transported him to the Scioto County Jail, where he once again claimed the same medical issues. The jail refused to accept the man. An ambulance transported him to the hospital. Though the warrant was valid, PPD did not have any officers available to stay with the man at the hospital.
