Just before 12:30 am, a wrong-way driver on US 23 nearly crashed into a deputy while driving in the wrong lane. A deputy pulled the driver over near the Portsmouth Post of the State Highway Patrol.
Troopers also responded to the incident and learned the Portsmouth resident behind the wheel was driving without a license.
Troopers took the driver into custody on suspicion of OVI, and deputies gave a passenger in the vehicle a ride to the OSP Post to arrange further transportation.
