1. Pit Bulls Attack – Dog Warden Won’t Respond
A Disterdick Lane family contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office at 8:15 pm to report there were two threatening pit bulls on their property menacing the family.
Dispatch contacted the Dog Warden, who explained that the pound was full, so they could not respond.
The family explained the neighbor’s dog had already attacked their dogs, and the family was afraid they were next.
A deputy found the animals’ owners and advised them to keep their animals on a leash when they are outside or face a visit from the Dog Warden.
Officers responded to another report of a dog on the loose on Wednesday. This time a Poole Street resident complained the neighbor’s dog repeatedly came into their yard and had recently attacked their cat.
A deputy spoke to the animal’s owner, and she said she would come get the dog and pick it up.
2. Animal Neglect Reported on Wamsley Lane
Scioto County Deputies responded to a report of animal neglect on Wamsley Lane.
The caller said several dogs did not have shelter, food, or water.
Officers responding to the scene noted that the dogs had food and water, but were sharing a dog house and appeared dirty. However, their coats were not matted, and their nails were trimmed.
The dogs’ owner explained that they were outside because they’d gotten dirty in the mud, and she was in the process of having a water line repaired so she could bathe them. She promised to bathe the dogs and get them inside by the end of the day.
An officer told the woman they would follow up at the beginning of the week.

Officers suggested she take the owners to court or contact the Dog Warden. However, the woman did not wish to make any type of report.
4. Loose Dogs Block Campbell Avenue
A man contacted police at 6:30 pm to report that loose dogs were preventing him from walking down the street.
By the time officers arrived, the dogs were gone. An officer gave the man a ride to the BP on Gallia.
