Child Found Wandering in West Portsmouth
Just before 11 am, a West Portsmouth motorist contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report finding a small child wandering in the road alone. The motorist said the child was unsure where she lived.
About 8 minutes later, the child’s mother called 9-1-1 to report her child had escaped the house and she could not locate her. Police learned the child had found a hidden key and let herself out of the home.
Officers contacted CPS and returned the child to its family.
Barefoot Child Spotted on US 23
We, sadly, report on wondering children quite regularly. It is a dangerous problem. This story is by far the longest distance taveld by a child in recent memory.
Just before 6 pm, witnesses reported a barefoot child walking down US 23 near Glockner Honda headed toward Lucasville.
An officer caught up with the boy and returned him to his home near Ritchie Street in Portsmouth.
