There seems to be no sign of the area’s homeless crisis letting up.
Just after 7 a.m., they responded to Kroger Gas to check a report of a shirtless man lying on the sidewalk. Officers advised the man to move along.
However, just before 9 a.m., they were called back to Kroger for a report of a shirtless man sitting in the grass very close to the road. Employees feared he was in a dangerous spot. However, by the time officers returned to the scene, the man was nowhere to be seen.
Police responded to Jackson Avenue for a report that a homeless woman with known mental health issues was angry and refusing to leave. Officers spoke with her, and she left.
The next afternoon, a caller reported a homeless man sleeping on the steps of the Painters Union Hall. He told officers he had no place to go. Police advised him not to sleep on the property without permission and not to block the door.
At 1:24 p.m., witnesses said a group of homeless people had set up camp in a parking lot on 7th Street and had left a lot of trash in the area.
Police spoke to the group and advised them to remove their stuff. The homeless people loaded up a shopping cart and left the area.
At 5 p.m., a caller reported someone passed out on a bench in Tracy Park. When officers arrived, they discovered the person was sleeping.
Just after 11 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to Park Apartments for reports of people sleeping in the hallway. Police advised them they could not stay in the building unless they were with a resident. They tried to get a friend to permit them to stay, but he refused. The pair left the apartment.
