Michael C. Slack I, 69, went to be with his Savior from his home while sitting in his rocker on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 10, 1954, he was a son of Arva and Sara Floyd Slack and was a lifetime member of Union Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a trustee.
A 1972 graduate of East High School, Mike was a loyal 50-year member of Carpenter’s Local 437, where he was vice-president for 24 years. In his earlier days, he enjoyed coaching the Sciotoville Little League and was an avid classic car lover. An accomplishment not to be forgotten, he was the volunteer carpenter labor organizer for all housing that has been built for the Scioto County Habitat for Humanity.
Preceding him in death was his father, Arva Slack, a daughter, Megan Slack, a brother, Jerald Slack and a sister, Kathryn Slack.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Cindy Beck Slack, three devoted sons, Michael (Amanda) Slack II, Jerrod (Christina) Slack and Shane D. (Nicole) Slack, all of Wheelersburg; his mother Sara Floyd Slack of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Arva “Chip” (Teri) Slack of Columbus and Scott Slack of New Boston; three sisters, Lolita Raynard, Vernita (Mike) Flannery and Carla Slack, all of Sciotoville; Mike’s grandchildren, the love of his life, Levi, Kami, Evie, Dawson, Jaxon, Vivian, Ava and J.J and a special “brother”, Randy Howard.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25th, at Union Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Zack Conkel officiating. Interment will be in South Webster Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at the church from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
