Edith Rose Montavon, 94, of Portsmouth formerly of Otway passed away on Friday. She was born in Otway to the late Joseph Koenig and Dixie Case Koenig. On October 20, 1951 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Edward Montavon who preceded her in death on January 21, 2011.
Surviving are her sons, Mark (Deborah) Montavon of Albuquerque, NM; Paul (Marsha) Montavon of Otway; and George (Donna) Montavon of Pond Creek; a daughter Joann Montavon of Odenton, MD; two granddaughters; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
Edith was preceded in death by her daughter Jeannie Montavon; her siblings, Frank and Mildred (Liston) Koenig, Stella and Charles Eichenlaub, Henry and Zela (Scott) Koenig, Joseph Jr and Louise (Fritz) Koenig, James and Zora (Thompson) Koenig, Herbert and Ruth (O’Hara) Koenig, Clyde and Louise (Knauff) and Edith (Combs) Koenig, Emma and Joseph Dettwiller, Margaret and Charles Prose, and an infant brother.
Edith will be remembered as a cherished wife and loving mother. She was devoted to her Catholic faith. She enjoyed watching her beloved animals while swinging on the front porch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Pond Creek in West Portsmouth, Ohio with Father Smith, Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Koenig Family Cemetery on Tick Ridge Koenig Hill Road, Otway, Ohio. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
