The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office busted Jazmine Allen, a 33-year-old Wheelersburg man with a long criminal history, in connection with a string of break-ins in the Wheelersburg area.
A woman called 911 on Wednesday afternoon to report a man had broken into her home in broad daylight, and her son was in the home attempting to subdue the burglar.
When officers responded to the Wheelersburg home, they learned the suspect had fled on foot. However, they found him just a few minutes later and also located the spot where he’d stashed the stolen goods from the home.
Deputies charged Jazmine Allen with burglary and theft. Investigators also learned he’d broken into multiple vehicles and attempted to get into cars in the Kinker Drive-Dogwood Ridge area. The Sheriff’s Office asked that anyone who’d experienced a break-in in the area call them to file a report.
This is far from Allen’s first run-in with the law. He pleaded No contest to theft charges back in 2022, and Portsmouth Municipal Court sentenced him to 30 days in jail. The Scioto County Grand Jury indicted him on theft charges in June of 2023, but those charges were dismissed in November.
Allen’s other arrests include importuning, a conviction for aggravated menacing in 2020, criminal damaging, disorderly conduct, and an arrest back in September for OVI. Portsmouth Municipal Court limited his driving privileges and set a jury trial date for March of 2025 for those charges.
Allen is currently in the Scioto County Jail on a $76,000 bond and is due in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.
