Franklin Jay Penix, 28, a resident of Van Lear, KY, passed away April 06, 2025. He was born to Keith and Tina Penix on July 05, 1996, in Portsmouth.
Franklin was a dedicated crewman on river boats, a job that allowed him to work on the water he loved so much. His passion for fishing and drawing was only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with his family, especially his cherished daughter, Haven Penix, who was the pride and joy of his life.
Franklin is survived by his daughter, Haven Penix of Portsmouth, OH; his brother, Keith Penix (Jennifer) of Paintsville, KY; his sisters, Christina McNeil (Devyn) of Stout, and Ashley Munion of Portsmouth. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lori Grooms; his grandfather, Bo Musick; and his aunt and uncle, Shannon and Ray Scott, along with special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Connie Cooper.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, 10:00- 12NOON at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Funeral Service will be 12 noon at the funeral home. Private family interment following.
