What started as mischief at Spartan Stadium could have ended in tragedy. Police say two juveniles were detained after they were caught throwing chunks of concrete from the top row of the historic bleachers, striking a car windshield below.
The incident caused property damage but, fortunately, no injuries. The children’s guardians were contacted, and the vehicle owner said she would handle repairs privately. No formal report was filed.
Why It Matters
While this case ended with only a broken windshield, police stress that tossing objects from a height is far from harmless. Across the country, people have been seriously injured or even killed by falling debris — from bricks, concrete, or even small rocks. Drivers have lost control of vehicles, and pedestrians have been struck by projectiles thrown from bridges, overpasses, or buildings.
Authorities emphasize the importance of teaching children that these actions have serious consequences. Kids often don’t realize that what seems like “just playing around” can put lives at risk. Adults are encouraged to supervise children closely in risky areas such as old stadiums, overpasses, and construction sites, and to hold them accountable when property damage occurs, reinforcing the reality that mischief can turn deadly in an instant.
