Vernon Edward Alexander, 91 of Piketon, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1934 to the late William John Alexander and Edith Pearl Rose Alexander. On June 6, 1957 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jane Pettit Alexander who preceded him in death on December 5, 2000. Surviving are his children; Carri (Wade) Breitenbach of Piketon, Christy (Edward) Burkitt of Piketon, Michael (Marshia) Alexander of Piketon and John Edward (Beth) Alexander of Piketon; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and his sisters; Daisy Pauline Seevers of Newark and Patricia Dixon of Piketon and Eugene the only cat he ever liked. In addition to his wife and parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Sexton.
Vernon was retired equipment operator from GE and was a Masonic lifetime member of Black Diamond Lodge #538 and served his country in the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Merritt Post 142. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
