Gayla Rae Dickerson, 41, of Portsmouth, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born on February 20, 1985, in Portsmouth to Greta Ruth Dickerson.
Gayla attended Portsmouth City and Notre Dame schools and worked as a personal caretaker. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed visiting zoos, photography, and nature. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, loved her dogs, Baxter, Buddy, and Blu, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
She is survived by her mother, Greta Dickerson of Portsmouth; her son, Graeson Rishon Dickerson of Portsmouth; sister, Garren Renee Dickerson of Long Beach, CA; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Bishop Harold Bell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour on Friday.
