Police arrested a Portsmouth man for the 70th time, and the city cites a man for a lewd painting. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Under The Influence

  • Just after 4 am, a caller reported that adults were passed out next to a vehicle at the Super Quik on the Scioto Trail. A witness said there was a child with them. Officers took a man into custody and contacted Children Services.
  • Police responded to a possible overdose behind the Sixth Street Carryout at 11:16 am. Police made contact with a woman who refused medical treatment and said she would walk to a friend’s home.
  • The manager of a local restaurant called police just before 6 pm to report that an employee appeared intoxicated or high and was attempting to leave the property. The manager did not think the employee was in any condition to drive. Officers took the employee into custody and transported her to the Scioto County Jail.

Hey, That’s My Stuff!

  • The Speedway on Gallia contacted police at 4:16 am to report a woman dressed in black putting items into a bag.  She never made it out of the store with the stuff, so she was not arrested. She was advised not to return to the store.
  • A Walnut Street caller reported a man stealing items out of their yard just before 1 pm. They described the man as wearing a blue shirt, striped coat, and gray pants.

Man Arrested for 70th Time

Just after 10 am, police responded to a report of a possibly high man dancing in the street at Grant and Mound Streets.

Officers discovered a man with an open warrant from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. They took him into custody. This marked his 70th arrest and his 5th arrest so far this year.

Previous arrests were for a parole violation, trespass, disorderly conduct, and drug charges.
