PPD Patrol: Don’t Cough On My Coffee

Portsmouth Police dealt with angry neighbors, feuding siblings, a disturbing number of ODs, and someone who put the cough in coffee on Saturday and Sunday. Warrants? We Got Warrants

Saturday

  • PPD officers made a traffic stop on Waller just after midnight. They found a woman with a warrant from New Boston. NBPD officers came to pick her up. Her vehicle was towed.
  • At 3:11 am, officers caught another of New Boston’s most wanted at the Speedway on Gallia. They held him there until NBPD came to pick him up.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Saturday

  • At 3:26 am, police responded to 6th Street for a report of a man and woman having a fight. The man was gone when officers arrived.
  • Officers were called to Mound Street at 11:49 pm on a report of two brothers attempting to fight. Police advised them to leave each other alone.

Sunday

  • At 1:31 am, a woman at the Bellomy Apartments called to say that “all hell had broken loose.” She said her son was having issues with a neighbor. Police discovered that all involved were family members and that they didn’t want police involved. Officers issued a warning.
  • Just after 12:30 pm, police responded to a High Street home where a woman accused a man of stealing a package. Police advised them to leave each other alone.
  • AT 5:58 pm, PPD was called to Wayne Avenue for a report of two people arguing over a child. Officers broke the glass to get into the apartment. No one was inside.
  • Officers were called to Mabert Road when a woman claimed her brother put his hands on her and took money. After searching for the man, they found nothing.

ODs & Drugs

Saturday

  • At 10:35 am, police responded to 4th Street for a report of a man who had overdosed in a white van.
  • Later in the day at 12:30 pm, someone reported a man slumped behind the wheel of a blue truck at Port 45 Rehab. Turned out he was just taking a nap.
  • Just after 1 pm, a caller reported a man passed out on the steps of an apartment on 17th Street.
  • Just after 3 pm, officers responded to a woman overdosing at a Thomas Avenue apartment. She was revived but refused treatment.
  • At 5:38 pm, police were called to the Woodbine Apartments. A woman claimed her boyfriend had beaten her and was trying to make her shoot up with drugs. When police arrived, she denied anything was wrong.
  • Just after 6:30 pm, officers responded to Ritchie Street for an overdose. Medics revived the woman.
  • At 9:24 pm, officers responded to Alexandria House for a report of partying, loud music, and drugs. Police advised the residents to keep it down.
  • A few minutes later, officers discovered a woman on the ground just past the Dollar General on Harding Avenue. They took her to her sister’s house.

Sunday

  • At 3 pm on Sunday, police received a report of a man overdosing near the woods on Thomas Avenue. Officers said he seemed fine.
  • Just after 6 pm, police responded to the possible OD of a 57-year-old man on 5th Street. He was breathing, but very slowly.

Trapped

Saturday

Police headed to the B.T. Washington Apartments for a report of someone trapped in an elevator at 1:29 pm. They were out by the time police arrived at 1:41 pm.

Suspicious Minds

Saturday

At 2 pm, a caller reported 20 people inside an apartment on Thomas Avenue. She thought there was some sort of problem. When officers arrived 12 minutes later, they contacted residents inside. They were told everything was fine.

Strange Behavior at Goodwill

Sunday

Just before 4 pm, police were called to 5th Street for a report of a man screaming at a residence. The man was arrested.

Dude, Where’s My Car?

Saturday

Just after 2 pm, a man called to report that his car was stolen from 20th Street. Turns out that New Boston Police had arrested the owner for DUI. His vehicle was parted at Applebee’s.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Saturday

Just before 5 pm, a woman called police to say that her friend was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend on 20th Street.

The woman said her ex just wouldn’t leave her alone despite being asked to leave the property. He left before police arrived. They advised her to call if he comes back.

Garage Bandits

Sunday

An unpleasant start to Mother’s Day for people on Timmonds Avenue.

  • Officers got a call of a garage break-in on Timmonds Avenue at 10:23 am. They took a report
  • About ten minutes later, a second break-in just a few houses down was also reported on Timmonds.

Don’t Cough on My Coffee

Sunday

Just before 11:30 am, police were called to the Super Quick on the Scioto Grail. A Piketon man claimed that an employee in the store purposely coughed on his coffee cup.

Police advised him to call the corporate offices to file a complaint.

Child in Danger

Sunday

At 2:22 pm on Sunday, police were asked to check on the welfare of a 2-year-old boy. The caller said she received photos from the boy’s mother that showed a slap mark on his face and bruising around his neck.

When officers got to the 14th Street apartment, no one answered the door.
