Sam E. Baker, 90 of Minford went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at SOMC Hospice. He was born June 13, 1933, in Pikeville, Kentucky, a son of the late Joseph and Oma Mullins Baker, he was a mine worker and an avid worker in many states. Sam loved Flea Markets, Bluegrass Gospel Music, and his animals. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church in Minford and Christian Life Church.
He is survived by one son, Danny (Saadet) Baker; five daughters, Gail (Andrew) DeLong, Saundra Allen, Sandra Stiltner, Kathie (John) Kazee, Shelia (Jeff) King; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Baker on August 7, 2013 whom he married February 18, 1956; one son, Sammy Baker; seven brothers, Buck Baker, Van Baker, Joe Baker, Jr., Bobby Maynard, Hi Maynard, Ferell Maynard, JC Maynard, and, six sisters, Effie Hale, Marie Blackburn, Flora Reed, Ethel Thacker, Wilma Lee Parker, and Loretta Holsinger.
The family would like to thank his special caregiver, Sandra Gaines, and SOMC Hospice and Staff for their excellent care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2023, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Mike Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery in Minford.
