A Portsmouth mom says a stranger in a white pickup has shown up around her more than once — including near her child’s Head Start.
She told police she first encountered the man after walking her child to Highland Head Start.
She said a man in a white Ford F-150 tried to talk to her, then followed her on foot into Mound Park while telling her to come talk to him.
A few days later, she said she had her cousin drive her to the school.
That’s when she spotted the same white truck again.
Her cousin confronted the driver, who denied having any previous contact with her and then left the area.
Police noted that the truck appeared to be a company vehicle and attached the vehicle information to the report.
She was told to call police if she sees it again.
The officer also noted that he wanted to identify the driver and find out why he had been around the school.
The log does not say police have determined that any crime occurred, but repeated appearances near a school — especially after a parent says she was followed — were enough to get officers’ attention.
