1. Kids Report Elderly Woman Under Attack
Some concerned kids contacted officers to report an incident on 17th Street just before 3 pm. They said a man and woman were fighting in a yard. They said the woman yelled that the man was trying to kill her. The man had a metal object in his hand, and the woman was holding a frying pan.
However, when officers arrived at the scene, they learned the woman was suffering from dementia. Police commended the kids on their good citizenship for calling officers when they spotted the woman in possible danger.
Officers also gave the woman’s family contact information for Adult Protective Services to see if they could get some assistance.
2. Officer Bust Out Window to Save Unresponsive Man in Van
Officers and EMS sprang into action to help a man after a caller reported someone passed out behind the wheel in a minivan on 20th Street.
Police found the man unresponsive and busted out the window to get to him. Fire Department medics transported him to SOMC for treatment of a medical condition.
PPD arranged for the vehicle to be towed.
