John Raymond Fenton, of South Webster, was the ninth of twelve children born on November 24, 1936, to the late Cora (Aeh) and Ed Fenton. He was a life long Jeep that could be seen in Amen Corner at all home basketball games as well as other sports.
There is nothing that made him happier than cheering on his Jeeps. He was a 1954 graduate of South Webster where he played basketball and then served in the Army from 1954-1957. He was proceeded in death by his parents Cora and Ed, his brothers Dick Fenton, Al Fenton, and Fred Fenton, his sisters Rose Fenton, Marge Lenyo, Joann Williams, Louise Knight, and Helen Walker, and his son-in-law Mark Milliken.
In 1961 John married the love of his life Harveena (Maynard) Fenton and raised all of their kids and grandkids to be Jeeps. John worked at Detroit Steel from 1962 until they closed. He then began doing carpentry work until he was hired by Southern Ohio Corrections Facility until he retired. John was a member of the South Webster Volunteer Fire Department, South Webster Lions Club, and a member of Possum Lodge.
Along with his wife, John is survived by his daughters Sherrie (Tom) Gunnoe, Lisa Fenton, Jill Milliken (Greg Shirley), and Kristie (Shane) Johnson, his son-in-law Chuck (Denise) Bobst, his grandkids Michael (Bobbie Jo) Bobst, Katie (Michael) Allard, Andy (Kylie) Fenton, Whitley (Josh) Wright, Ryan Fenton, Kimber (Samuel) Frazie, Ellie Jo Johnson (Jannson Williams) and Maecee Johnson (Gabe Morrell).
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Griffin Allard, Wesley Bobst, Teagan Allard, Corbin Allard, Lucas Fenton, Charley Wesney, Gunner Wesney, Blake Fenton, Layla Bobst, Sadie Fenton, Sunday Frazie, and Annie Kate; sisters, Linda Bishop and Janet Meadows; brothers, Frank Fenton and Bill Fenton and a special nephew Rich Burton. As well as MANY nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM Monday, November 20, 2023, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Merit Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 PM, and Monday 12-1 PM.
