Scioto County Commissioner Bryan Davis took a few minutes out of Thursday’s commissioners’ meeting to shine a spotlight on a local dairy farm.
Davis said he’d spoken with the Crum family, owners of Crum Brothers Farm, at the Scioto County Fair. “It’s the only remaining dairy farm in Scioto County. They’ve been doing it since the 1950s out in South Webster. They are showing animals at the fair. Their family is out there.”
The commissioner said he had a chance to speak with the whole family and learned a lot about the operation. “It’s amazing what they do out there. A lot of people don’t realize there’s such a large dairy operation in Scioto County.”
Daivs said all of the farm’s milk goes to the popular Chipotle restaurant change and is used to make sour cream to top the company’s tacos, burritos, and rice bowls. “If you go to Chipotle and order something with sour cream on it, there’s a high probability the dairy product came from South Webster, Ohio.”
Davis said he especially enjoyed walking around the fair and meeting the county’s young people. “If you walk those 4H barns and talk with those young people who have invested their time and worked hard, these young people are tomorrow’s leaders. Here’s to all the 4H families and the Crum Family Dairy.”
