Russell Ellis “Rock” Sowards, 48, of Friendship, died Friday, August 9, 2024, at OSU Hospital in Columbus. He was born May 5, 1976, in Portsmouth to the late Donald R. Sowards and Debra K. Bowling Sowards, who survives.
Along with his father Donald, Russell is preceded in death by his grandparents; Russell and Darlene Bowling and Adolph and Ruth Sowards as well as his great grandparents Clyde and Martha Royster.
Along with his mother Debra, Russell is survived by a great uncle, Herman Royster, 3 great aunts; Helen Stapleton, Sharon S. Sowards and Carol A Vicars, a special cousin Renauta Crabtree along with several other cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. The interment will be in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday starting at 1:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
