SCDN contacted the Scioto County Prosecutor’s office to ask for a full copy of the search warrant that was served on commissioners and the economic development director by the Ohio Auditor’s Office. Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies were called in to assist the state with serving the warrants.
The prosecutor’s legal counsel, Danielle Parker, said that the records are sealed and not available to the public. She suggested SCDN contact the Ohio State Auditor’s Office with future inquiries.
Scioto County Commissioners skipped their regularly scheduled Thursday meeting and instead postponed that meeting to Monday August 26 at 9:30 am. At last week’s meeting, Commissioners Scottie Powell and Cathy Coleman said they were unable to comment on the matter. Commissioner Bryan Davis did not attend that meeting.
At that meeting, Powell said commissioners were fully cooperating with the investigation. “If there’s something there, let the investigators do what they need to do. If there’s not, we’re interested in knowing if there’s nothing there. One way or the other. It’s a double-sided coin, and we ask the public to be patient with the process. We sure have been.”
