Max Mathew Behrer, 88, of Wheelersburg passed away on April 27, 2025 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1937 in Lima, Ohio a son of the late Max Joseph Behrer and Francis Schrock Behrer.
Max moved to Dayton, Ohio at a young age, attended Chamanade and Patterson Co-Op High Schools. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958. Max retired from Dayton Walther Corp in Dayton, Ohio in 1991.
He was a Division Manager at Dayton Portsmouth Casting Company in Portsmouth from 1970 to 1991, also Division Manager of Carrollton KY Casting Plant. Max was a Kentucky Colonel, Treasurer of Scioto Christian Ministries for many years. A member of National foundry Association for 50 years, a 30 year member of Desco Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and a member of the Portsmouth Elks Country Club, BPOE Lodge #154, past president of Wheelersburg Lions Club
Max is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Warner Behrer; daughters, Deborah (Gary) Merkley of Sarasota, FL, Julie (Paul) Gibson of Nashville, TN and Jennifer Fraley of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Barbie Fraley, Kalin Merkley and Cole Marx.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, sisters, Ellen Behrer Desch and Marillyn Knight (Terrance) of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday May 2, 2025 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Deacon James Sturgeon officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to services. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion, William Baker Post 363 of Lucasville and Minford Post 622.
