William Ryan Lee Comer, 42, of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Bill was born in Portsmouth on July 23, 1982, a son of Paula Kay Davis Comer, who survives, and the late William Marion Comer.
A 2001 Glenwood High School graduate, Bill worked as a truck driver for R+L Carriers of Wilmington. A true renaissance man, he was a gifted writer and poet and had the heart of an artist. He was an excellent cook and always enjoyed Date Nights with his beloved wife, Samantha, at a good restaurant. Bill was also a creative thinker and an excellent storyteller. His greatest love was his family, and his greatest passion was spirituality. He was the founder and patriarch of The Orthodox Order of the Seven Sovereign Rites in Portsmouth, and a 32nd degree Freemason with the Aurora Masonic Lodge #48.
Surviving is his wife, Samantha Dawn Penn Comer, whom he married on February 10, 2010, in Portsmouth; his mother, Paula Kay Comer of Portsmouth; two daughters, Tessa Comer and Alessandra Comer, both of Portsmouth; three siblings, Marcus Fraley and Karleen Carter, both of Portsmouth, and Sherry Carver of McDermott; his mother-in-law, Alberta Penn of Portsmouth; several nieces, nephews; and many friends.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lowell Penn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Archbishop Garrett Carroll officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the service hour on Monday.
