The Portsmouth Police Department has launched an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of December 21st. The incident, which took place at or near the Party Time Bar, prompted a significant emergency response from both police and fire officials.
According to reports obtained via the SCDN SCANNER, authorities moved quickly to secure the area and establish a formal crime scene. Portsmouth Fire Department’s Medic 1 transported a shooting victim to Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC). Following the transport, the medic unit was required to go out of service temporarily to decontaminate and restock supplies.
Evidence Recovery and Investigation
As the investigation unfolded, an on-call detective was assigned to the case and arrived on-site to oversee evidence recovery. Dispatch records indicate that officers located and impounded a gun at the scene. While processing the area, officers were heard over the radio recording serial numbers—specifically for a firearm with the serial BTA 536—and initiating a crime scene log to maintain the integrity of the site.
In a notable development during the response, a Cadillac passing the scene was identified by a witness as potentially being involved in the incident. Officers were directed to attempt a stop on the vehicle for further questioning.
Public Assistance Requested
The Portsmouth Police Department also requested crowd control at the scene. Officials are reportedly looking for individuals who may have been present during the shooting and might have recorded the incident on their mobile phones.
Gathering evidence at a crime scene like this is like trying to capture smoke in a jar; investigators must act quickly and precisely to secure digital recordings and physical evidence before the details of the event begin to drift away.
At this time, the Portsmouth Police Department has not yet issued an official statement regarding the shooting. No names of victims or suspects have been released to the public, and the investigation remains ongoing.
