Harold E. Carter, a former warden at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on August 28, 2024, he was 80 years old. He was a son of the late Kenneth and Nola Carter of Sciotoville.
Surviving is his loving wife, Margaret Keller Carter, of almost 62 years. Two sons Bert Kevin Carter (Carla), Richard Carter (Tina) both of London, Ohio, a daughter Angela Meiring of Troy, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A brother, Darrell Carter (Donna) of Florida. Two sisters, Gayle Mitchell of Florida, and Carolyn Phillips of Arcanum, a sister-in-law Nancy Keller of Wheelersburg, a brother-in-law Jim Keller (Marcie) of Wheelersburg. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one baby girl, Kimberly Carter, and a son-in-law, Dan Meiring. Two brothers, Don Carter and Paul Carter, and one sister, Nora Carter.
A 1962 graduate of East High School and a graduate of Wilmington College. Harold was a proud Navy veteran and a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Wheelersburg, where he held various positions as treasurer, trustee, and deacon for several years before moving to London, Ohio. He loved the Lord and HIS church. Since moving to London in 2021, he attended the Vineyard Church. He was also a member of Lucasville Masonic Lodge 465.
A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Bryan White officiating. Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Minford with graveside military rites provided by the James Dickey Post #23, American Legion. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
