A police chase that started across the river in Kentucky ended with a foot pursuit through Portsmouth neighborhoods, two arrests, and a vehicle impounded.
Portsmouth police joined the pursuit after authorities in Greenup County, Kentucky, began chasing a vehicle that crossed into Ohio.
🚔 CHASE CROSSES THE RIVER
According to dispatch traffic, the pursuit came across the Carl Perkins Bridge before entering Portsmouth.
The vehicle traveled along U.S. 52 before weaving through city streets, including 2nd Street, 3rd Street, Chillicothe Street, Jackson Avenue, and Campbell Street.
The chase finally came to an end in the 400 block of Campbell Street.
🏃 DRIVER TAKES OFF RUNNING
Instead of surrendering, the driver reportedly bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers flooded the area searching for the suspect.
Police later conducted a follow-up investigation on Boundary Street, where officers detained and questioned individuals connected to the incident.
🚓 TWO PEOPLE END UP IN CUSTODY
During the investigation, officers arranged to have the vehicle towed and impounded.
Police arrested Crystal Polzin after discovering she was wanted on an active warrant out of Cabell County, West Virginia.
She was booked as a fugitive from justice.
Meanwhile, officers took James Wolfe into custody and charged him with:
- Failure to Comply with the Order of a Police Officer
- Criminal Endangering
Police also collected and impounded several items as evidence during the investigation.
⚖️ CHASES DON’T END AT THE COUNTY LINE
High-speed pursuits that cross state lines often involve multiple agencies working together.
In this case, what started in Kentucky ended several miles away in Portsmouth, requiring coordination between law enforcement agencies on both sides of the Ohio River.
The investigation remains ongoing.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
