Portsmouth police spent part of the afternoon searching for a naked man who apparently couldn’t decide where he wanted to be unclothed.
The first call came just before 1 p.m. when a resident on Campbell Avenue reported a man getting naked on the sidewalk.
Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate him.
At that point, the mystery man had vanished.
🚔 ROUND TWO
About two hours later, another call came in.
This time, floodwall personnel reported a naked man walking along the old roadway near the river.
Officers once again began searching the area.
👀 FOUND AT SAVORY FOODS
The second search proved more successful.
Police located the man in the loading dock area of Savory Foods.
Officers identified him as Charles Brown of Minford and took him into custody without incident.
⚖️ PUBLIC INDECENCY CHARGE FILED
Brown was arrested and charged with public indecency.
He was later scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a hearing was set for June 30.
🤦 AVOIDING THIS PARTICULAR POLICE REPORT
Public indecency charges can result from a variety of circumstances, including intoxication, mental health crises, drug use, or intentional exposure.
In this case, police reports do not indicate why Brown allegedly removed his clothing.
