Portsmouth Police: Strange Calls and More
ShareTweetEmail

The Portsmouth Police Department responded to some strange calls. Here’s a rundown from the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. Plus, we tip our hat to the Officer of the Day.

The Perfect Guest

In the Holiday Inn on 2nd street, they had their fill of some guests. The police were asked to remove them. Two officers showed everyone how the exits work.

A housekeeper at the Royal Inn called the police after a guest refused to wake up. The occupant was snoring but didn’t respond to them. A police officer arrived and awoke the guest. The guest chose to exit on foot rather than by taxi, so valet service was not required.

Driver Reported All Over US 52 Before Crashing Into Highway Wall

A female guest at the Four Keys Inn was enjoying her stay there and would not leave. She even barricaded the door so no one could enter. The situation prompted a response from three units. She decided, after about 15 minutes of stern encouragement, it was best for her to collect her belongings and leave without further incident.

Interesting Sleeping Arrangements

Police responded to a call that a female was passed out in an alley on Boundary Street. Two units arrived to check on her. She said she was just sleeping. After some checking, police determined she was fine. They cleared the call and the woman was left to finish her nap.

On regular patrol, an officer came across someone who appeared to be passed out on a patio. While he was checking on him, it was discovered that the woman at the apartment had allowed him to live on the porch. There was no OD, no sign of trouble, and no signs of medical concern.

A caller reported 3 females possibly doing drugs in a small red pickup truck. After police arrived, the women assured the officers that they weren’t doing drugs. Actually, they live in the truck. After two police officers discussed the matter, it was determined that there was no suspicious or illegal activity going on. They were instructed to leave the area.

Strange Encounters

The police were contacted by a woman to report that her electricity had been cut off. Other things were also bothering her. When police arrived, she wasn’t there. Police were told by a neighbor that she called an ambulance and went to the hospital.

Officers respond to a complaint alleging that a woman was flinging items from her shopping cart into the street. Upon arrival, they discovered that the complaint was valid. The female was behaving erratically and had to be detained. She was ultimately arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

It took 3 police officers to untangle a heated debate about a package delivery from Amazon. The person who called police told officers that they mistakenly had a package delivered to the residence at which the confrontation occurred. The caller was angry because the resident would not give them the package. The conversation was sour. In the end, records indicate that a report was taken and the individual left empty-handed.

Well, That Happened

A man called the police the morning after spending “several hours” of consensual adult time. He reported that his $1,4000 stimulus money was missing. A very costly one-night stand.

A tip line received information indicating a Portsmouth woman was pregnant and using illegal drugs. According to the source, the woman planned to sell the baby. Police have her name and address. They were unable to locate anyone at the residence. They have everything on file and will continue to investigate.

Officer of the Day

A teenager was very angry and not willing to get out of the car and go to school. The child refused to get out of the car when the parent returned home. One officer was dispatched and another heard the call and volunteered to respond. In less than 10 minutes, the officer had convinced the teen to go to school and gave them a ride
