Sex Assault Reported In Tracy Park

PPD investigated a report of a sex assault in Tracy Park and located a missing 86-year-old man. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Knife Fight Reported

A caller reported two people fighting in Bannon Park at 1:32 pm. The witness said one of them had a knife and identified one of the combatants. When an officer spoke to the man he claimed he was not fighting and there had been no incident.

Ten minutes later another caller reported a man and two women fighting in the 1800 Block of Kendall Avenue. Police took one subject into custody.

Suspicious Activity

  • Just after 2 pm, police responded to a report of a suspicious person in Tracy Park. An officer spoke to the woman and said she did not appear to be under the influence. She told the officers she was from North Carolina and stranded in Portsmouth and currently waiting for her stepfather to come to pick her up.
  • A 6th Street resident asked police to look into a woman with a shopping cart who was attempting to live in the alley behind their home. Police could not locate the woman.
  • Just after 4 pm, police responded to a report of a man and woman arguing in front of a 12th Street home. Police took the woman into custody.
  • Police responded to a report of a suspicious red van with multiple people inside parked for an extended period of time outside AT&T Wireless on Gallia. They took multiple people into custody, impounded several suspicious items, and had the vehicle towed.

Under the Influence

  • At 3:35 pm, police responded to a report of an overdosed 30-year-old man on Walnut Street. He refused medical treatment but did agree to speak with a drug counselor.
  • Just after 7:30 pm, police answered a call about a suspicious shirtless man acting strangely in the alley behind Grandview. An officer dropped him off on Summit Street.
  • A caller reported someone lying in the lot of Bar Benders at 9:20 pm. An officer gave the woman a ride home and left her with a sober party.

Hey, That’s My Stuff

  • Officers were called to Vandervort Supply at 4:33 pm for a report of a shoplifter. Police took the woman into custody.
  • A Brant Avenue man called police at 5:12 pm to report someone stole his suboxone medication from his home. He told police he had left the house with the doors unlocked for about half an hour.

Home Safe

An 86-year-old man reported missing earlier by his worried wife turned up safe and sound at home. He told officers that he had purposefully kept his location from his wife.

Domestic Disturbance

A Jackson Avenue woman called police at 5 pm to report that her brother kicked her and then left the residence.

Officers caught up with the tattooed man at Boundary and Jackson and he attempted to run away. Police took him into custody and then to the hospital to make sure he was fit to go to jail.

Once he received medical clearance, an officer dropped him off at the Scioto County Jail.

Taking Advantage

A woman contacted police at 7 pm to report that her mentally challenged brother had been forced to put a vehicle in his name and now wanted to take the tags off the vehicle.
