What started as a tip from a national task force ended with a Portsmouth man in jail.
Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force flagged information about possible child sexual abuse material tied to devices in Portsmouth.
That’s when local police stepped in.
On April 23, Portsmouth detectives showed up at a home on 27th Street with a search warrant.
After going through the house and devices, they arrested 55-year-old Gary W. Preston.
He’s now facing serious felony charges, including:
- Pandering obscenity involving a minor
- Pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor
- Illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material
Preston was taken to the Scioto County Jail and is waiting to go before a judge in Portsmouth Municipal Court.
Police say the investigation isn’t over yet.
