1 Parents Targeted With False Abuse Allegations
Portsmouth Police officers investigated two alleged cases of child abuse in just 15 minutes and found, that in both cases, the accusations were unfound.
The first disturbing report claimed that a child was being neglected, deprived of food and clothing, and forced to use the bathroom all over the house.
When officers investigated, they found the disabled child dressed, with plenty of food to eat. The father said there were some issues with late toilet training due to the child’s disability. The man felt he was targeted due to a property dispute.
Shortly after that, officers checked on an infant after a report claimed the baby was being neglected. Police determined the accusations to be unfounded. The mother seemed well, the home was immaculate, and the child looked well-fed and taken care of.
2 Cops Called for Market Street Drug Dispute
Portsmouth Police received a report of a disturbance at the Shawnee Apartments on Market Street just before 6 pm. Witnesses said two men, one of which the caller identified, were into it in front of the apartments due to a dispute over drugs.
When officers arrived at the scene, one of the men had already gone. The other man said he would call the police if the other guy came back.
3 Man Spotted Lying Beside Local Business
Just before 8 pm, a caller reported someone lying down on the ground next to Advance Auto Parts on Chillicothe Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke to a homeless man and advised him to move along. He said he would attempt to get into a homeless shelter.
At 3:15 pm, a caller reported a man passed out on the lot of the Marathon on Gay Street. An officer gave the man a ride home.
