Roy Pat Scott, 92, of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. He was born March 17, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late John and Blanch (Blair) Scott.
Pat was a 1949 graduate of Portsmouth High School. He served loyally in the U.S. Navy for nearly four years as a Gunner’s Mate 2nd Class aboard the USS Adirondack during the Korean War and was a proud veteran. He provided for his family through his hard work in the steel industry in New Boston, Ohio for decades. He also co-owned a livestock farm with his twin brother Ray for many years. Pat was married to his beloved wife Marsha Jo Scott for 47 years.
He was a doting husband, who was always looking after and caring for Marsha. They enjoyed playing cards with friends and traveling. Pat loved to spend time outdoors, including fishing and camping. He enjoyed baking pastries, including delicious cinnamon rolls, and cooking. He always kept his cars spotlessly clean, washing them daily. Papaw Pat was a nurturing grandfather who would spin tall tales for his grandchildren, with colorful characters and suspenseful plots, keeping them on the edge of their seats. He could make a McDonald’s run seem like the adventure of a lifetime.
He loved Jesus and served faithfully at First Church of Christ in Wheelersburg, Ohio and at Sciotoville Christian church in Sciotoville, Ohio for nearly fifty years altogether.
He is survived by his children JP Scott of Texas; Brian (Beverly) Scott of Florida; Denise (Mike) Miller of Georgetown, OH; Adam (Amy) Scott of Union, Kentucky; and two stepsons: Craig (Kris) Bahner of Michigan; and Todd Bahner of Wheelersburg, Ohio. He adored his 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, by his older brothers James Scott and Jack Scott, by his sister Louis Jean (Scott) Campbell, and by his beloved twin brother Ray Mike Scott.
Funeral Services will be 12 Noon Friday October 13, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 AM to 12 Noon Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to DWSwickFuneralHome.com
